La Pavoni has a rich history in coffee and specifically the manufacture of espresso machines. Desiderio Pavoni built the very first espresso machine in 1905. Over the years La Pavoni built many iconic machine but it is the Europiccola that brought espresso into the home in 1961. The Europiccola quickly became an icon in the world of coffee. If you are interested in the history of this icon(and other lveer machines) you wont easily find more detailed information than here.
The Europiccola Lusso is the latest version of the Europiccola. In appearance not much has changed but over the years many small changes have been made. One of the first changes was the addition of a sight glass to shwo the water level in the boiler.
Making coffee with a lever espresso machine.
Making espresso with a lever machine can be very satisfying but it does require quite a bit of practice and is not for the impatient person. Lever espresso machines are like old sports cars, they need to be used with love, care and passion to get the most enjoyment out of them. There are many resources like facebook groups and videos on youtube that can guid you on this journey.
Is the Esperto Abile the right machine for me?
The main differences between the Europiccola and the Abile are the bigger boiler(1.6litre vs 0.8litre) as well as the brew pressure gauge, group head temperature indicator and wood trims. The bigger boiler allows you to make more coffees without having to switch of for a refill while the brew pressure gauge allows you to better control the brewing pressure. The temperature indicator on the group head also helps to manage brew temperatures.
