The Rancilio Silvia Pro was launched into the market last year and was an immediate success. The Silvia Pro took the legendary Silvia and added Dual Boilers for large volume of steam and simultaneous steaming and pulling shots. Then they added an extra pump to feed the steam boiler to make sure the pressure to the group head does not suddenly drop if the steam boiler needs a top up. Then they added a dual PID system to keep brew and steam temperatures within 1deg C of the set temperature.  

Then the Pro X came and added a pressure gauge and more importantly time adjustable SOFT pre-infusion. Soft pre-infusion is normally only found on top of the range commercial machines. Many commercial machines that offer pre-infusion is a hard pre-infusion(normal pump pressure) which is of very little value. Soft pre-infusion moistens the puck gently to ensure it is not disturbed. This allows the puck to properly settle before the high pressure delivery of the actual shot starts. this reduces channelling in the puck and improves shot quality!
